Twenty staff from Western Sydney councils have benefited from a free, two-day circular economy procurement training course.
The course was delivered by expert staff from WSROC’s Regional Waste Strategy team, in partnership with Local Government Procurement (LGP).
Circular economy procurement is a purchasing strategy that applies circular economy principles to buy goods and services, aiming to ‘design out’ waste and pollution, keep products and materials in use longer, and regenerate natural systems.
WSROC’s procurement training course is tailored to the needs of participating councils based on research conducted by WSROC to understand councils’ current circular procurement practices.
The course also addressed the key barriers and drivers impacting circular outcomes within Western Sydney councils’ procurement systems.
The training built the capacity of council staff with new knowledge and practical skills to embed circular economy principles throughout the entire procurement lifecycle, from planning and sourcing through to contract management and performance reporting.
Congratulations to the course participants!
