General
Streamwatch is a community environmental education
and action program that helps to raise awareness of the local environment.
It aims to empower the community to protect the health of their
waterways by using water quality monitoring as a tool.
Streamwatch is a network of schools, community groups, local government
and other organisations. The people involved in Streamwatch share
a common dream of working together for healthy catchments.
In the Sydney Area, Streamwatch has a network of around 300 groups,
who monitor water quality at over 400 sites, and have contributed
over 9,000 data sets to the online database. This translates to
the involvement of around 10,000 people in quality environmental
monitoring and action.
